Finally!

Katie's pneumonia is gone (thank heavens). She is feeling so much better and her mood seems to have improved dramatically. She went back to school today for the first time in 2-1/2 weeks. She was so excited to see all of her friends!

Tom is doing well. He had LASIK a week and a half ago and now has 20/15 vision. One eye is a little cloudier than the other one, but he is just happy that he isn't as blind as he was. I am happy to report that I am not as indebted to him as I was right after my surgery in November. He took such good care of me (and had to even help me with washing my hair for two weeks). I kept telling him that I will owe him for the rest of my life. Well, now I don't owe him as much. =D When I took him to LASIK, I couldn't wear any hairspray. None. at. all. I am an "80's-big-hair-girl" and don't go anywhere without my hair being liberally sprayed (Tom claims I am solely responsible for the hole in the ozone). Well, nobody can wear any perfumes/scented lotions/hair spray/mousse/etc. in the LASIK suite. Even family members. I had to go in public with flat hair. Just for THAT, I think he now owes ME forever ;o) .

Sean is thinking of going back to school. He doesn't know what he wants to study, but he is thinking that this "work stuff" isn't all he thought it would be. He is looking at coming to LCCC until he completes his Associate's Degree, then moving over to Laramie to finish his Bachelor's. It would be nice to have him home again. But, he also has several members of the Evanston Police Dept. urging him to become a cop. My vote is for school. I don't like cops very much. I used to be married to one. I'd much prefer he choose a safer occupation so I don't worry so much. Because, you know, it is all about me. Right?!?! LOL

Brendan had an orthodontic appointment today. The dr. is happy with his progress. His teeth look SO MUCH BETTER than before he got braces. We are amazed at how quickly they've straightened out. We also made the final payment to the orthodontist today. The last $1,710. His teeth are now officially "ours".

Well, I'd better get busy. I have a kazillion things to do today. Laundry. Iron. Make beds. Pick up Brendan and the neighbor kids from school (wind chill is below zero today). The usual mundane things I always do.

One of my favorite blogs.......

is this one. It is hysterical. All about cakes - and people who really screw them up.

I've been reading this one for a while now, and it is guaranteed to make me laugh every time. Enjoy!

Short Update

Katie's "RSV type of illness" turned into pneumonia. She is on antibiotics and will hopefully be able to go to school tomorrow. However, Brendan is just coming down with a nasty cough and sore throat. It just keeps adding up around here.

Sean has been here this week. It has been so nice to spend some time with him. He took Tom and me out to dinner last night for our Christmas gift. I got a sitter for the two little ones so we could actually spend some time catching up. It is such a good feeling to see your children grow into really great adults. I can't even begin to tell you how satisfying this is. We love having him home.

That is all for now. I've got to go get a couple of things done before I start dinner. Sean leaves tonight after we eat so I don't want to serve dinner too late. I hate having him drive back so late at night.

TAke care and I'll post when things settle down a little bit!

10 Weeks Post-Op!

I went in for my 10-wk. post op appointment on Tuesday. I am happy to report that everything is hunky dory and I don't have to go back! Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The dr. was really pleased with my healing and said to add back activities slowly. Basically, I can do anything that doesn't hurt. I am so happy! They took some "after" shots and let me see them next to my "before" shots and I cannot believe what a difference there was. I just cannot tell you how happy I am that I had it done. I am glad the worst is behind me and I am ready to get on with my life. Whew.

Katie is sick with an RSV-type of ailment this week. She has a high fever and a bad cough. Thus far, she has been much healthier than she was last year so I can't complain. The local news does a "pediatric clinic" update every week where they talk to the peds office here in town and see what illnesses are popping up here in town. Last week the dr. reported 240 cases of respiratory viruses - so it's not just my Katie-bug who is fighting this stuff. She is really quite pathetic. She coughs if she does anything so right now she is propped up in my bed (on Tom's side) drinking a green tea frappuccino and watching cartoons. I am going to lay down with her and take a nap in a few minutes. I was up all night last night with her so we are both pretty tired.

My diet is going well. I didn't work out much this week due to being sick (myself) and having a sick kiddo - but I'm still watching what I eat. I lost 4 lbs. last week! Hopefully it continues to come off. I am determined this time. I will do this. I want to feel good - and wear cute clothes again. I also want to get some family pictures done and refuse to do it looking like this.

My cousin is going through a nasty divorce. Her husband (of 20 years) left her for a woman he works with. He is being mean and nasty and hateful, too. It started to bring up lots of fears and insecurities in me - PTSD from my own divorce, I guess. I hate that. I am typically so secure in my marriage with Tom. He is NOT like Sean & Marc's Dad. He would never abandon me or abuse me or threaten me. But sometimes I forget these things and get scared. I've come so far since we met almost 15 years ago, but every so often I get a flash-back and become afraid that history will repeat itself. Luckily, Tom is patient - and God hears my cries for help - and I can re-focus my energy on positive things. I am so grateful for my life and my family. We have created a pretty good thing here.

Other than that, life is quiet. Marc began school last week. Sean is working too much. Tom is swamped again, too. The usual. I need to download some pictures from the camera and then post them. I'll try to do that this weekend. Hopefully Katie is better by then so I can get a few minutes to myself. She is wearing me out!

Do you know someone named Ron?

If so, look at this. My chuckle for the day. Bid high. She deserves it!
