Katie's birthday cake.

Katie with her birthday cake

Katie after her first haircut.

Katie's hair before it was cut - very, very long!

Katie blowing out her candle on her birthday. Notice the crown. She kept saying, "My not Katie, my a princess!". Oy!

Katie............the fish slayer!

My daughter single-handedly killed 15 fish last week. She didn't intend to - she isn't cruel or anything - but it happened nonetheless. She tried to help feed Brendan's fish when nobody was there and dumped an entire jar (brand new, full-to-the-top) into the tank. We noticed about an hour later. So. Not. Fun. We tried vaccuuming out as much food as possible, but couldn't get it all without completely draining the tank (which isn't good for the fish either). I even made an emergency run to Walmart (my LEAST favorite place on earth) at 10:30 at night to get a 2nd filter/pump thing. The worst part of this ordeal? Brendan's fish had just given birth to 11 babies the previous week. They were sooooo stinkin' cute. Well, the fish have been expiring slowly over the last several days and the final 4 passed away yesterday. Brendan is so bummed. I guess that solves our "what are we gonna do with all of these baby fish while we're on vacation?" dilemma.

Katie turned 3 yesterday. It is hard to believe that much time has passed already. We had a very small family party for her Saturday night, but she had a blast! I'll post pics later this week.

We leave in one week for our vacation. We are all getting very excited. With the exception of the long plane ride, it should be a great trip.

I'll post at the end of the week!

And it continues.............

So, Katie had a rough weekend - high fever, severe coughing, difficulty breathing, etc. I took her to the doctor on Monday. The good news is that she didn't have RSV again! The bad news is.........she has a touch of pneumonia. We are now the proud owners of a nebulizer machine so we can give her breathing treatments whenever she needs them. The doctors are thinking she is developing asthma - hence the lung/breathing issues this year. I'm just praying she is healthy on our vacation. We can deal with the rest of this stuff when we get home, right?

Oh, and since she is such a sweet child - and I taught her to share so well - she has given me one wicked head cold (which is why I'm bloggin' at 3:30 in the morning).

Marc was here this weekend. It was really great to have him home again. He brought his dog, Kye, with him. She is such a sweetheart!!! She weighs 100 lbs., yet is sooooooo gentle with Katie and Brendan. Marc is doing well and is looking forward to his trip to Alaska in June. He is getting pretty excited about it again.

Sean called yesterday to tell me he is finally moving in to his apartment. He is really pumped up about it. He sounds really happy. He is dating a little gal (and I mean little - under 5' tall!) from Ogden now. Also, he is really enjoying his job and the feeling of "making his own way".

Katie's birthday is Sunday. I cannot believe that my sweet baby will be 3 years old already. She has brought so much joy, laughter and love to our family. It has gone by so quickly - yet I can't remember what life was even like without her here. We're going to have Uncle Don, Auntie & Uncle Neal, Amy, and hopefully Jess & Joey over for lunch and cake that afternoon. I am making Ariel cupcakes - nothing fancy, just cupcakes with Mermaid candies and candle in a cupcake stand. I'll post a pic next week. Seriously though - it is going to be very basic.

I haven't done much scrapbooking this week. I was on a roll for a while there - but with Katie being so sick, I haven't been able to get anything done. I also need to clean the house. But, you know the saying......"If you have time to clean, you certainly have time to scrapbook"! :o)

Well, I'm going to try to get back to sleep again. My head is so stuffed up that I don't know if I can. I hate to take nyquil at this time of night because then I can't get up in the morning.

Blessings to you!

Brendan and Katie at Christmas. These are basically the only pictures we got this year. The first one is Christmas Eve. They left Santa some milk and brownies and a picture that Brendan created for him. The second picture is of the annual Gingerbread house. They really enjoyed making it this year and Brendan only got a "little" impatient when Katie ate the candies.

Katie's "before & after" shots when she had her hair cut. We cut over 6" off and she still has long hair!

Katie and JD - the baby I am watching until June.

We closed on the house last Friday. It was a sad day for Tom and Steph - really rough on them.
The doctor says I have cartilage damage in my toes - and one was also, indeed, broken. No fun. I have to wear a shoe/cast thing for another 10 days, then I can slowly work up to regular shoes.
Katie is sick again. Not as bad as last time though, fortunately. Hopefully this bout of RSV will be a minor one for her. She is really having a rough year.
I'll check back in later!
