Wow, time has sure flown by quickly!
We just got home from Katie's eye specialist appointment and she is fine. She has pseudostrabismus - which is a long word for "she looks like she has a lazy eye, but she doesn't". She wasn't impressed with getting eyedrops at all! Luckily, my wonderful husband is the one who has to hold the kids down for shots/eyedrops/throat cultures/etc. That is our deal - I do pregnancy and he gets all of that stuff. I think I am getting the better deal, personally.
My scrapbooking weekend was fabulous! I don't remember when I've laughed that much. I didn't get as much done as I'd have liked - only 28 pages - but I had a great time. We are planning another trip in the fall. I can't wait.
We spent part of Easter weekend in Denver. Tom had meetings on Thursday night and all day Friday so we decided to tag along. I took the kids to the zoo (my favorite thing to do) on Friday. Brendan had a blast. He likes zoos as much as I do so we always enjoy our time there. Katie seemed to have fun, but didn't understand it all yet. The exciting event of the day was when we ate lunch at the snack shack by the Sea Lions (my favorite exhibit). We were fortunate enough to be sitting there during lunch time for the sea lions, too! Brendan loved it! It was a gorgeous day that day. Unfortunately, everyone else had the same idea that we did - the zoo was more crowded than I've ever seen it. I realized later that it was Good Friday so a lot of people had the day off. Note to self: don't go to the zoo on Good Friday again.
We spent the next day at Flatirons Crossing (a huge, fabulous mall near Boulder). We treated the kids to Benihana for lunch. Brendan had a blast! He was enthralled with our chef and insisted on eating his meal with his chopsticks (they had the "training" sticks for him). He can't wait to go back. I decided that I should start eating all meals with chopsticks and I would probably lose a tremendous amount of weight - I have never been able to use those blasted things.
We bought Brendan a bunch of summer clothes. He has grown so much since last fall that none of his shorts fit him anymore. I think he stayed the same size for almost 3 years - then he started growing in October and still hasn't stopped. He isn't BIG by any stretch of the imagination, but he is finally moving up in sizes!
We arrived home Saturday night and then had a wonderful Easter. We decided to cook dinner at home rather than going to Easter Brunch like we normally do. It was nice just relaxing together and spending the day with one another. Unfortunately, Katie and I had both become sick (again) in Denver so we were unable to attend church on Easter. Katie had a nasty cold (courtesy of Brendan) and I caught bronchitis.
Tom's mom was admitted to the hospital the day after Easter. We thought she had pneumonia (again, courtesy of Brendan's cold) because she couldn't breathe. At the hospital, it was discovered that she was suffering from an extremely rapid heartbeat so they admitted her. She was given medication to slow it down, but then suffered a heart attack on 4/19. We lost her twice, but were fortunate that the medical staff was able to bring her back. She had a pacemaker installed on 4/21 and is now resting comfortably at home. We are so thankful to have her with us still. She has been such a blessing to us all. This is a woman who has devoted her entire life to her children and grandchildren - seriously. Needless to say, last week was a long week for all of us.
We are planning a trip to Utah next month to see Marc and Sean. Marc will be leaving for Alaska in June so we wanted to spend some time together before he leaves.
Everything else is going well. Brendan starts baseball practice on Friday.... Katie is beginning to walk..... Tom is busy at work..... All of the usual blessings we sometimes take for granted.
May God bless you and yours. Until next time.............
